My First Tryst with Generative Adversarial Networks

I came across this one recently, when one of the Execs tossed this as jargon casually; claiming that it was his flight read and it kept him awake till he landed. My curiosity, of how a single subject could keep someone awake all throughout a flight, got better of me. Either, it was a very short flight or this was a really cool topic. I decided to find out; and that’s how I first read about Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs)

My abstract layman-ish level understanding:

Please bear with me if this sounds to naïve and simplistic. We all need to start somewhere…And if I am factually incorrect (which is also very much likely) please rip this article apart with corrective comments, so that no innocent, aspiring Data Scientist, gets misguided.
