Past. Present. Future

Think about the milestones that got you to where you are today. Think about the skills that you had to use to get through. The obstacles you had to overcome to get to where you are today. Present, the present moment. Where you are at in this exact moment in time and space. Did you imagine it? Did you envision yourself here? Was it planned or not planned? Future. Where do you see yourself 10 years down the road? What are you doing? Where are you and who are you around?

This is all very different from a fantasy. This is different from a day dream. Its intentional. When you do something with purpose, with a set goal in mind. Whether you are going shopping or going to the gym, you are intentionally doing something.

I remember the exact turning point in my life that set me on the path I’m still on today. We all experience that moment that stops you in your tracks and utterly shocks you to the core. Something happens and then you react and then boom your whole life can happen. For some it’s a tragic accident, or a death in the family. Whatever it may be, it changed you a little bit or even a lot. You may have noticed or you may have missed the changes it had on you.

I was just about to turn 18 when my dad passed away. We weren’t super close because he worked a lot, but that moment changed my life forever and is the reason why I am where I am today. It was one of those things that happens and then the whole year fly's right by you. Next thing I know, I moved out of my moms house and in with my boyfriend, working part time going to school full time and playing on two varsity high school teams. Then it was graduation and poof. It’s like the best years of my life blew right by me. It was almost like an out of body experience. I can’t explain it that well.

I’m here now and on a great path because of that one event that changed my life at 17 years old. That one event had a ripple effect throughout my whole life. That one event still plays a role in what I do and where I go too. If I would have never experienced my dads death then there would be a whole bunch of decisions that would have went a lot differently in my life. So differently that I probably wouldn’t have met my husband and I wouldn’t be in Texas and I wouldn’t have met some of the greatest people in the world that I get to call my friends. Today I try to be as intentionally with what I do to make him proud. For him to know that all was not lost on both my brother and I. That I learned from the whole entire experience and that I am actively doing what I feel is what I need to do.

I have a vision board by my desk in my home office aka spare bedroom in my tiny apartment. I have pictures on this board of things I want to do and experience in my life. I have sticky notes with goals written on them. Mostly I have so many hopes and wishes on that board. I write down certain goals and rewrite them multiple times. I am a firm believer in seeing what you want to come true. So far my odds are pretty good with the whole writing it down so it comes true. I’m not sure if it’s my energy or that I’m sending it out into the universe when I write it down. Whatever it may be, it’s my thing. I do it almost everyday. Visions are so important for a person well being and future self. How can you become someone in the future if you don’t know what that person looks like.

You can’t see where your going with out understanding where you came from first.
