Things terrible leaders say

We all have our war stories from meetings and presentations to the “big bosses.” I’ve heard some that you wouldn’t believe, and I dare not repeat. But, I wanted to share a few anonymous examples.

Lights never go out in the fairground

I stare at the people running from a place to another frantically, trying to finish the to-do list on a Christmas Eve afternoon. Desperately, I think about right now and there are many things I’d like to achieve, some kind of new year resolutions, and realise: ‘Lights never go out in the fairground’. I can’t think of any other place in the world I hate the most at this time of year.

I choose a place on a terrace and smell the air. My best friend is sitting next to me. ‘Hey, my little buddy’, he says. We never talk to each other so much. We have that good communication of old friends that only need to watch at each other’s eyes to know what they are thinking. I know he really likes Xmas time, it means the family is coming soon.

‘Probably Saturday we’ll see more children down’, says the young waitress reluctantly. My friend slurps his coffee and looks at me cheerfully. ‘Come on my old friend, let’s go home’, he says, ‘Let’s go make dinner’, and takes my lead with care while scratching my head.

I really love this two-legged buddy and this time of the year.
