Lennon Deserves Grief!

As an ex-captain and ex-manager of Celtic, Neil Lennon should 1,000,000% get grief at Ibrox. When Paul Hartley went back with Dundee he got grief and rightly so.

But it is naive to suggest that what happens to Lennon at Ibrox isn’t a lot more than grief. It’s hatred. Hatered of who he is, where he comes from and… well you know… his presence and success insults the ‘Culture’ of Ibrox’s vocal (ahem) minority.

I’m not massively bothered about scumbags because they don’t have a duty or responsibility to be anything other than what they are. My main issue is with the media narrative that got us here and that is still being fed, fanning the cultural flames of the vocal (ahem) minority… That because Lennon — unlike Hartley for example — refuses to lie down and take it. That he gives something back. He gives back maybe 1% of what he receives. That is enough to say “he brings it on himself”.

Lapping up comments about respect from Brother Pedro and his criticism of Lennon, all whilst ignoring the torrent of hatred poured on the Hibs manager is just weird. Weird cause it’s a journalists job to be objective, their duty to ask tough questions. Those are basics, no?

Well, in Scotland… No, it’s not. Sad really. But expected in the pursuit of keeping the most successful club in the world afloat and their gold-standard image intact.

So yeah as I was saying… Lennon deserves the grief. The hatred… Not so much. And the media? Well, shame on them.
